Introduction to Art students were able to use class time to work in the inviting or repelling space they are creating. Drawing students continued work on the stippling project.

Drawing students started to making a stippling gradation scale (10 steps, 1"x1") and finished the still-life value drawing. Introduction to Arts worked on sketches for inviting and repelling spaces and practiced making 3-D objects out of paper.
Students created lists of inviting spaces as well as repelling spaces in Introduction to Visual Arts then followed it up with sketches for the 3-D box of the space. Drawing students continued to work on the charcoal still-life created in class.
Introduction to Visual Arts students used the class period to finish their abstract paintings. Drawing students began a still-life drawing using charcoal to create a full value range.
In Intro to Art, students painted a color wheel and cut it out to prepare to glue into the sketchbook. Drawing students mapped out the values in the black and white image that students' brought in and began to transfer the value.
Intro to Art class began the color theory unit. As a class, we read pages 90-91 and96-103 then took notes on key vocabulary terms in bold or italics.
Drawing class finished the contour still-life then began the value unit. Check out the Value Mapping assignment hand out. Students completed both the stepped value scale and graduated value scale and began work on the spheres. In Intro to Art and Drawing we practiced gesture drawing, using each other as models. In Introduction to Visual Art we played a name game and then started to watch and take notes on the video on Elements of Design.
In Drawing, students completed a preliminary drawing of a fellow classmate. This will be kept by the teacher until the end of the quarter. At the end of the quarter, students will draw the same classmate to see how much they have improved. |
