3 technique painting
You have been waiting for this! YOU get to choose the subject, style and size of your painting. For this particular assignment, the main criteria is the techniques you use. You will need to include ALL of the following painting techniques (you have already seen these with the landscape assignment):
1. Impasto- a thick application of paint to create a textured surface. Paint is quite thick so the brush or painting knife strokes are visible. Check out this site for more examples.
2. Glaze- a transparent or semi-transparent color laid over another dry opaque layer of paint. It is okay to thin the paint if you need to for this look. Skin tones are often created using glazing techniques. Check out this site for more examples.
3. Scumble- the technique of dragging one or more layers of dryish, opaque paint over a bottom layer that primarily shows through the overlying ones. The paint should not be thinned. Using a dry brush makes this technique easier and adds that "artistic" look to a painting creating depth of color.
And you need to create depth (foreground, middle and background).
