It's color time!
It's a giant step fear by some and highly anticipated by others. While using color, it is still very important to see and use values to create shapes and images but now, it will be equally important to pay attention to the local hues and their compliments.
When using colored pencils, it's important to be able to control the pressure applied to the pencil so that the color can be blended with the compliment. With soft-pastels, it's much quicker because color can be applied quickly and blended with a finger. In either case, layering color is the essential element as it adds visual interest and depth.
