Art history/master artist Research & Painting
Objective: To communicate to an audience an informed interpretation of the master artist’s artwork you studied. Your interpretation will be a visual work that you create along with a presentation and an artist statement.
Task Description:
Task Description:
- Study the style of the artist. What has influenced the artist? What are typical themes, colors, brush work, etc.
- Using the content or theme of your artist (but not the same picture) create a painting that shows viewers the same message or interpretation as your artist’s work. Use the elements and principles in the same way (style) as your artist. Paint with the same style (brush strokes, blending color styles, etc.) as your artist. Communicate to the viewers in the same way that your artist communicated through his/her work.
- Create a personal artist statement to communicate to viewers your intent. See the “Artist Statement” guideline sheet for specifics to be included in the statement.
- Present your painting to the class along with a presentation explaining the artists style and influences, including examples.
